In Cagliari the SoloWomenRun: record number of participants for the great pink race
The Open route starts at 9.30 on Sunday, the Challenge at 11: thousands of women at the start, including a centenarian

Over 13,500 registered, record numbers, and a renewed strong social commitment. It is the new edition of the Cagliari SoloWomenRun, the all-female solidarity race that will take place on Sunday 16 March with departure and arrival at the Fair. A pink river, as per tradition of the event that since 2015 has become one of the most anticipated events. With a strong component of social responsibility that has always been one of the themes dearest to the organization and the participants.
The official figure will be announced only at the start, but the maximum number of 15,000 people is already very close. Among them Mrs. Zaira, a centenarian . Further evidence of how the SoloWomenRun is enjoying ever-increasing success. Aggregation, fun and solidarity are some of the key principles of the event . There are two routes: the Open 5km route, open to all and starting at 9:30, and the Challenge route, twice as long (10) which will determine the final ranking, with the appointment at 11 am. All the competitive runners who cross the finish line will receive a medal: Claudia Pinna won last year .
The city of Cagliari will be filled with pink, the official color of the SoloWomenRun that this year is enriched with an additional element: in the official kit, assigned to all participants, the t-shirt also features the logo of the event. The route will touch the start at the Fiera, then viale Diaz, viale Cimitero, viale Bonaria, viale Regina Margherita, via Manno, largo Carlo Felice, via Sardegna, via dei Mille, via Roma, second lap (only for the Challenge) resuming the route from viale Cimitero onwards, viale Diaz again, piazza Marco Polo and the return to the Fiera .
As usual, the formula includes a social responsibility component. Associations and groups, in recent months, have presented a project that will compete - with the proceeds of the SoloWomenRun - for the Charity Goal. A crowdfunding was also allowed, to raise funds independently. But not only that, because many women wanted to share their stories and examples. And during the day on Sunday, the Ambassadors of the race will be present (who will tell the story of the event through their smartphones) and the animators of the event .
In view of the SoloWomenRun, in Cagliari the transit and parking bans for Sunday during the race have been defined . From 6:30 to 13 there will also be changes to the CTM route: all stops along the route (Diaz, Cimitero, Bonaria, Regina Margherita, Manno, Carlo Felice, Roma, Diaz) will be cancelled at the times indicated. Lines 1, 5/11, 6, 7, 8A, 10, 30R, 31R, M, PF and PQ will change their routes. Trenitalia has added special runs on the Cagliari-San Gavino line, with Regional trains added to the existing offer.
