"Serious inconvenience" and "very heavy" repercussions for farms in Sardinia, due to the snow and bad weather that have hit the island in recent days.

The alarm was raised by Coldiretti Sardegna, who issued a note to make the first point of the situation: “Such an important snowfall in November is certainly rare. To be most affected - explains the association - was the wood of Barbagia and Gennargentu, devastated by the heaviness of the snow that has accumulated in the trees as they are not yet completely bare ”.

"Followed by - continues Coldiretti - certainly the many farms that remained without electricity for the whole day yesterday and some, in the territory of Desulo, until today".

A serious inconvenience for many companies caused in certain territories by 30-40 centimeters of snow that blocked not only the inhabited centers, especially many farmers and ranchers unable to reach their sheepfolds or move. To aggravate it, in addition to the absence of electricity, also that of the telephone line ".

Again, “many breeders - Coldiretti Sardegna points out - have had to resort to electric generators to milk and not to leave the cattle without water. But the budget is very heavy, still to be defined for the forest. The snow load has folded thousands of plants ”.

"Leaks - continues Coldiretti who also carried out an initial monitoring - are also being recorded in the Oristano area (especially Arborea and Terralba), in the Medio Campidano and Sulcis where rains and hail have hit the already soaked fields of artichokes and vegetables with the risk concrete of radical asphyxiation ".

Finally, “concern also in Milese and Villacidrese for citrus fruits. The risk is to encounter 'water sickness', especially for clementines, with softening of the peel and deterioration of the product, with citrus fruits that can be attacked by pathogens such as molds ".
