This morning around 4 o'clock six Bonelli's eagles were released in the Bosa area .

The action was carried out as part of the "Aquila a-Life" project, aimed at recovering the species in the western Mediterranean, which in Italy is classified as critically endangered.

«The project, which began in October 2017 with a duration of five years, involves Spanish and French partners – underlined the regional councilor for the defense of the environment of the Sardinia Region, Marco Porcu -. Its actions are the responsibility of Ispra and foresee the reintroduction of the species in Sardinia, where the extinction is traced back to the nineties ».

A project, underlines the exponent of the Giunta Solinas "strongly supported" by the Region through the Forestas agency, which is actively involved in the choice and management of the release sites.

"The reintroduction of the animal in the regional territory represents a great opportunity for the conservation of the species in the central-western Mediterranean area , also through the restoration of the continuity of the range", concludes Porcu.
