Thousands of people are expected on the pilgrimage on foot from Sinnai to the Cagliari basilica of Bonaria scheduled for the night between next Wednesday and Thursday.

A religious rite that is renewed over time that did not stop even during the Covid years: at that time, between 2020 and 2022, the pilgrimage had been replaced by parish masses in Santa Barbara and Sant'Isidoro with the Mercedari who had brought the statue of the Madonna of Bonaria to Sinnai in an atmosphere of very strong, intense emotion in the presence of the Archbishop of Cagliari, Monsignor Giuseppe Baturi.

As always, the pilgrimage, now in its 38th edition, is organized by the "Il Segno" association with the collaboration of the parishes.

«In these days», says Pierangelo Soi, president of “Il Segno”, «we are preparing with the usual commitment and faith also in anticipation of the 2025 Jubilee. A long and tiring commitment which, as always, requires many volunteers. Concelebrating the midnight mass in Piazza Sant'Isidoro", adds Soi, "will be an Egyptian Carmelite father based in Madrid, Father Botros Pietro Fahin, guest of Father Gabriele Biccai and the town. This time the pilgrimage will be organized in preparation for the 2025 Jubilee."

The event will begin on Wednesday at 10.30pm with a happening in the square of Sant'Isidoro. Half an hour after midnight, mass will be celebrated in Piazza Sant'Isidoro, one hour after the start of the pilgrimage which will stop for a few minutes on the outskirts of Sinnai to return a statue of the Madonna to its niche in Via Roma. Then the predhiera procession will move towards Selargius where a refreshment stop is scheduled at 4.30. You should arrive at the Basilica of Bonaria at 8 am on Thursday 25 April.
