The ASCOT, the Extraordinary Territorial Community Clinics, established at a regional level, over a year ago, to stem the emergency dictated by the serious shortage of general practitioners, will not close on 30 June. At least in the territory of the local health company of Nuoro which has ensured, even if on a provisional and extended basis, the minimum level of health care essential for every citizen and indispensable for every community as a whole.

The news was released by the mayor of Olzai Maddalena Agus, who in recent days had asked for urgent intervention to avoid the closure of the clinics which would have left tens of thousands of citizens without any reference. «We know nothing about the other local health authorities, just as we know nothing about what priority the ASCOT problem has on the agenda of the councilor in charge and the regional council», writes the mayor of Olzai in a note, «it is nice to think that they had the same foresight as the management of the ASL of Nuoro and also in the other provinces of Sardinia there has been a saving extension".

Positive news for the first citizen even if the real objective to be achieved remains that of guaranteeing a general practitioner for all citizens.
