10 km per hour . An unreasonable, almost absurd speed limit . This is indicated by the signs on the road “Sa Cantonera”, which in Sestu from via Giulio Cesare leads to the ex 131, together with the words “strada dissertata”. And as you can imagine, no one respects it.

The signs are actually old . In the past the road was really bumpy and full of potholes, but already in May 2023 work was underway to redo the asphalt of the road, carried out with regional funds.

Then other funding was released to also build a pedestrian path with lighting. The project was approved in April. "The award is expected by the end of the year, and will begin within the first quarter of 2025, with one and a half million euros of regional funding," explains the Councilor for Public Works Emanuele Meloni .

But the signs are still there. Anyone who tries to go slowly is quickly overtaken, and some drivers speed too much, even exceeding 80 miles per hour. In the absence of a realistic limit, everyone sticks to the one they think is best, increasing the risks .

"They will be removed soon," assures the mayor Paola Secci . "Together with the Local Police, our technical offices will soon carry out inspections to remove them and put up new ones, with an adequate limit," continues the deputy mayor and councilor for Roads and Traffic, Massimiliano Bullita .
