About a year after the closure ordered by the mayor for safety reasons, the pedestrian bridge that connects the San Biagio and Montigeddu districts to Sennori has reopened, completely renovated.

The structure was inaugurated this morning by the mayor, Nicola Sassu , in the presence of the regional councilor for public works, Aldo Salaris .

The old wooden bridge, closed several times for safety reasons over the last few years, has been dismantled and replaced with a custom-made structure made of steel and galvanized iron . The replacement with a new structure more resistant to wear and atmospheric agents and which requires less periodic maintenance was a precise choice of the municipal administration , which in recent years had had to intervene several times to stop the deterioration of the wood, before on the pavement and then on the side barriers.

INVESTMENT - For the intervention to replace the bridge, 102,200 euros were invested : 90,200 of regional funding, approved at the time by the council on the proposal of the commissioner Aldo Salaris, and the rest of municipal funds.

“The inauguration of a strategic structure, a bridge that connects two populated districts of Sennori and which replaces the old wooden structure with a modern and safe steel infrastructure, built and laid in record time. With this work, the maintenance difficulties typical of wooden structures are also overcome ”, declares the commissioner Aldo Salaris. "A necessary intervention that, thanks to regional funding, we have carried out quickly, providing the Sennorese with a safe and lasting structure", explains the mayor, Nicola Sassu. "The new bridge is a fundamental structure, just as it is essential to be able to dialogue with the regional department in order to plan projects and works that are important for the community", comments the municipal councilor for public works, Roberto Desini.

After the inauguration of the San Biagio bridge, which was attended by councilors and municipal councilors, the parish priest Don Giuseppe Marras, and the local representatives of the law enforcement agencies, the mayor accompanied the commissioner Salaris on an inspection in the public construction sites open to make the point of the situation and plan the necessary interventions to finally write the final word on some unfinished works for several years. The inspection concerned the new sports stadium and the stables. Then the summit in the Municipality to take stock of the planning of important public works in Sennori , such as the safety of the gravestone canal that crosses the center of the town, as part of a broader plan to mitigate hydrogeological risks, the situation of the former Barisone landfill and the planning of asbestos disposal interventions in the former middle school in via Mazzini.
