The protest continues in Selargius around the "Sa Barracca e su Pardu" area where Terna would like to build a conversion station and a switching station included in the Tyrrhenian Link project for a high voltage submarine connection with Sicily.

And after the new meeting on Sunday 4th, the No Tyrrhenian Link committee continues the battle to defend the lands, in the name of the motto "Su Sattu depid abarrai sattu".

«Last 21 September 2023 – explains Rita Corda, spokesperson of the Committee – the Selargino municipal council, after our thousand battles, approved an agenda which asked the mayor to review the agreements with Terna. However, the discussions continued and a new agenda was therefore necessary on 5 December, through which the mayor was asked to verify an appeal to the Head of State against the plant. An act that now reopens the game, after the deafening silences of all these years, including on the part of the Region."

And according to Corda, the reasons for saying no to the plant would be different: «The area is burdened by hydrogeological risk and a special lamination plant should already be built to mitigate the water risks. Furthermore, from specific studies carried out, there would be an important archaeological site underground that would risk disappearing."

He adds: «The lands are suitable for agriculture and several families derive income from it for their livelihood. We are not against clean energy, but rather against measures imposed from above without involving citizens, which bring zero benefits to the territory, if not speculation."

Even Mariangela Gallus, owner of a vineyard where the substation should be built, doesn't agree. And through the Nuragic blog, which in recent hours has released a video of the mobilization online, specifies: «We are producers of table grapes. In 2002, together with my brothers, we created a system for the vineyard and today we deliver it to the Dolianova winery. Terna contacted us trying to carry out negotiations for the expropriation by offering a paltry price which doesn't even reimburse us for the costs incurred".

Gallus adds: «This is not a degraded area as they say, but an irrigated and productive one. We will combine all our forces and we will not leave here, hence the desire to have joined the garrison. We don't want money, but the right to continue producing grapes and working our land as we have always done."

In the meantime, the front remains open, with the Committee growing day by day, gathering support even outside the island and upcoming protest initiatives on the horizon, such as the one on Saturday 17th in the "Si e Boi" multipurpose center also in Selargius.
