A year—or a little less—of construction work and road changes. And disruption. In one of the busiest areas of the greater Cagliari area: the one between Quartu, Sinnai, Maracalagonis, and Lake Simbirizzi. Work begins tomorrow, with completion scheduled for June 2027. All of this is to allow for the continuation of work on the Tyrrhenian West Link, the major power line that will connect Sardinia with the Italian mainland . The project calls for the giant cable to be buried underground, and its installation will therefore require excavations on the most important roads in the hinterland.

The Metropolitan City of Cagliari has issued three new ordinances regulating traffic on the affected roads. The measure provides for the establishment of a one-way system between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., regulated by traffic lights, traffic controllers, and appropriate signage . The construction work may affect sections of approximately 150-200 meters, appropriately spaced.

The affected roads include Provincial Road 15 in Maracalagonis (from km 0 to km 8), Provincial Road 17 in Quartu (Via Leonardo da Vinci, from km 5 to 17), and Viale Lungolago Simbirizzi (Quartu, from km 8 to 12). Also affected in Quartu are Provincial Road 95 (Via S'Ecca Sarrideli from km 0 to km 3+200) and Provincial Road 96 (Viale dell'Autonomia Regionale Sarda, from km 1+900 to km 5+300). The measures will go into effect tomorrow and remain in effect until June 30, 2027. The impact on mobility is therefore expected to continue for several months, affecting some of the busiest roads in the greater Cagliari area.
