Di Battista took to social media after his illness: "I'll do my best to be back soon."
The response to a message of encouragement“I’ll do my best to come back soon.”
With these words, Alessandro Di Battista responded on Instagram in the past few hours to one of the many messages of encouragement sent to him following the news that he was admitted to a hospital in Cuba in serious condition. "Don't give up, and please come back... to see the stars again," Ilaria Loquenzi, a communications specialist and former member of the Five Star Movement, wrote to him. The former MP's reply was followed by further messages of support.
The former Five Star Movement parliamentarian was admitted to a hospital in Cuba on Friday evening in serious condition. After suffering from severe headaches and feeling unwell, he was admitted to the Santa Clara hospital and then transferred by ambulance to Havana. After he recovers, the government will assess whether he is fit to return home. The government has already arranged for a possible air ambulance.
Di Battista's transport to Havana was made possible after regaining consciousness after several hours of unconsciousness and speaking with doctors. The government is closely monitoring the situation, and Minister Antonio Tajani is in contact with the embassy and the former parliamentarian's family to provide assistance.
