Selargius, clash over the 131 Dir speed camera: «It is irregular, never turned on again»
Oppositions against the reactivation of the device that has been shut down since September 2023: over 21 thousand fines in three years, rain of appeals"That speed camera was never in order, it cannot be reactivated there." The minority groups in the Selargius City Council intervene on the future of the speed detector installed in 2020 at kilometer 3,300 of the 131 dir, and turned off since September last year.
"We hope it won't be rekindled, at least not in that position: the new national legislation and a recent ruling from the Supreme Court confirm the fact that the choice made four years ago by the municipal administration was wrong."
Meanwhile, the municipal leaders are taking time to understand what to do. The balance sheet of these more than three years - from June 2020 to September 2023 - speaks of 21 thousand and 271 reports for speeding, with a confirmed amount of almost 5 million euros and approximately 2 and a half million collected.
