Water supply restrictions in Sassari. The drought is particularly affecting the reservoirs in northwest Sardinia (Cuga and Bidighinzu), resulting in a reduction in the water needed to be made potable and distributed to the network. To safeguard the levels of the city of Sassari's reservoirs, which are essential to avoid a total supply shutdown, Abbanoa announces that, starting tonight, Wednesday, August 21st, and until the critical situation is resolved, service closures will be implemented from 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning in the neighborhoods supplied by the Via Milano reservoir serving the upper part of Sassari: Lu Fangazzu, San Paolo, San Giuseppe, Monserrato, Tingari, Monte Rosello Medio, Sassari 2, Porcellana Alta, Badde Pedrosa, Valle Gardona, and Gioscari. The nighttime closures, during the time of day when consumption is lowest and therefore cause limited inconvenience to users, will ensure sufficient supplies to maintain service throughout the day. At 6:00 a.m., service will be restored from the Via Milano reservoir. Restoration of service may take approximately 2-3 hours, depending on the elevation of the users or whether they are served by terminal sections of the network.
Water supply will not be restricted in other areas of Sassari: There will be no interruptions in the neighborhoods supplied by the Monte Oro reservoir and mains: Centro Storico, Monte Rosello Basso, Sacro Cuore, Latte Dolce, Santa Maria di Pisa, Porcellana, and Piandanna. There will be no interruptions in the neighborhoods supplied by the Monte Fiocca gravity mains: Li Punti, San Giovanni, Sant'Orsola, Caniga, La Landrigga, Bancali, Ottava, San Quirico, San Giorgio, Predda Niedda, and the Bancali prison. There will be no interruptions in the areas supplied by the Serra Secca Quota 300 reservoir, which is only partially supplied by Truncu Reale (Luna e Sole, Prunizzedda, Monte Rosello Alto, and Carbonazzi).
