In 2016, he was among the defendants in a legal case stemming from irregularities discovered by the Prosecutor's Office in judicial auctions at the Sassari Court's Real Estate Foreclosure Office. Pierluigi Figheri, 49, from Sassari, was charged with conspiracy to commit crimes, disclosure and use of official secrets, abuse of office, and incitement to corruption. All of these crimes expired with the statute of limitations last year, except for one, extortion, for which he was acquitted due to lack of evidence. He was heard yesterday in court by a panel presided over by Monia Adami, assisted by Valentina Nuvoli and Stefania Mosca-Angelucci, and the prosecutor was Giovanni Porcheddu.

According to the indictment, Figheri allegedly participated in a 2010 deal with others to profit from a house bought back at auction for €130,000, splitting the proceeds, including "under the table" transactions. During the argument, defense attorney Giuseppe Scarpa demonstrated that the partners in the deal were others, not his client, who was merely the "host" of the meetings because he had lent the premises of his real estate agency. As the lawyer later recalled, Figheri had also worked to help the woman, who wanted to buy back the house, obtain a mortgage, and, moreover, none of the parties had ever mentioned the man's presence or interest in the negotiations. But the argument also focused on another defendant, implicated in the incident and among the main defendants in the overall legal proceedings, and whose role, during the trials, was downplayed by some witnesses.
