This morning, Sassari Provincial Police Chief Filiberto Mastrapasqua met with the traffic police crew who were hit by a car transporter loaded with vehicles near Cargeghe on August 22nd.

A very violent impact dragged the car for about ten meters, injuring a female officer who sustained a severe blow. Fortunately, no one on the force was in any danger of death.

The accident occurred while the two police officers were assisting a broken-down car that had stopped on the SS131.

During today's meeting, attended by Inti Piras, commander of the Sassari traffic police unit, the recurring nature of road accidents emerged, with 90% of them caused by clumsy driver actions.

Distracted driving is among the most common causes of road accidents, as is the growing percentage of drivers found under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
