The Sassari council has given the green light to the executive project for the reconversion of the former power plant on Via XXV Aprile. Yesterday, one of the main connections of the Intermodal Center was approved, a restyling that will cost 4 million and 800 thousand euros from the European Regional Development Fund.
The temporary grouping of professionals composed of Archistart Studio and MB Engineering designed the project, a fundamental step that precedes the start of the works that we hope will begin this year.
The governance led by Mayor Giuseppe Mascia has chosen, in this area, to act in administrative continuity with the previous Campus council. "We intend to operate in the same way," he confirms, "for all those works around which, regardless of who started them and when, the city has been debating for years without making a step forward."
The structure will be distributed over two floors along an area of approximately 600 square meters where, on the lower floor, there will be elements such as the central hall and the ticket office while, on the first floor, a multipurpose multifunctional space and a series of offices for co-working will be created. The area also includes a further intervention with the construction of a ground-level parking lot for cars overlooked by a square at the same height as Corso Vico. As regards the former power plant, access will be permitted both from Via XXV Aprile and from Corso Vico through stairs, elevators and other architectural solutions. "The will of our administration is to accelerate - concludes Giuseppe Mascia - let's close all the pending issues for over twenty years and project ourselves into a new planning phase, imagining that change that the city and the entire territory strongly need".
