The first results of the analyzes carried out by ARPA Sardinia on the fallout on the agricultural land surrounding the Truncu Reale site, affected by the fire of the Gesam factory on 6 August last, arrive. The results obtained did not reveal significant environmental criticalities as, for the parameters investigated, no exceedances of the contamination threshold concentrations identified by the reference standards were highlighted.

In the industrial area of Sassari , the technicians of the Regional Environment Agency had started a series of samples, both during and in the days following the fire, a mapping performed according to the directions of the column of smoke emitted by the fire. The attention was paid in particular to dioxins, investigations that had been pushed up to a distance of four kilometers from the waste disposal plant, which was completely destroyed. The concentration of metals, hydrocarbons and dioxins would result in the norm, therefore within the parameters of the law. On the arson and environmental pollution, the Public Prosecutor of Sassari has opened an investigation in which only one suspect is found Fabiano Mario Saba, the 49-year-old Gesam worker, also accused of manslaughter and concealment of the corpse of his colleague Antonio Masia, found dead on 25 last July, killed by the impact with a mechanical vehicle.
