Sassari, former councilor acquitted of mistreatment of his wife: he had been arrested

Acquitted because the fact does not exist . This is the sentence, this morning in court in Sassari , pronounced by judge Antonio Spanu in the trial against a former municipal councilor accused of mistreatment against his ex-wife .
The man, 72 years old, had been arrested by the Carabinieri in 2022 following an argument with the woman . From here a complaint was filed for mistreatment which, according to the woman, would have lasted substantially throughout the marriage. Alleged physical violence, including attempted strangulation, and psychological violence repeated over time which however were not confirmed in the various hearings by witnesses .
Even during the discussion , the prosecutor had maintained that there was no evidence of the defendant's guilt and, for this reason, had requested an acquittal . The defendant's lawyers are Luigi Esposito and Chiara Spano.
