Begun 15 years ago against 18 Sardinian separatists accused by the Cagliari DDA of subversive association with the aim of terrorism and subversion of the democratic order, the “Arcadia” trial continues in Sassari in the Court of Assizes.

It all started from an investigation 20 years ago following threats and attacks claimed in part by the proletarian nuclei for communism and by the Sardinian revolutionary resistance. Those attacks were followed by several arrests throughout Sardinia. Among the dozens of people under investigation, 18 - attributable to the dissolved independence movement "A Manca pro s'Indipendentzia" - were formally accused of the crimes and have been on trial for 15 years.

During today's hearing, the counter-examination of the former executive of the Digos of Nuoro, Stefano Fonsi, went ahead. The defense lawyers dispute numerous aspects relating to the investigations he conducted at the time of the events.

On October 18, the trial continues with the deposition of another 12 of the 600 witnesses that the prosecutor Paolo De Angelis and the defense team called in the courtroom.
