Five years ago in Sassari, in the midst of the Covid period, a heated confrontation took place between the local police and a couple who went out to throw out the garbage at a time not permitted by the pandemic restrictions.
The altercation, captured on video in April 2020, immortalized the elderly man falling to the ground and, subsequently, the highly critical comments about the officers' actions that appeared on social media.
Some had been deemed defamatory by the Municipal Police who, at the time, filed complaints against around ten people: most of them pleaded guilty.
This morning, Judge Silvia Masala ordered that the last three remaining defendants not proceed because the complaint lacked the delegation of the then mayor Nanni Campus.
The defenders are the lawyers Andrea Piroddi, Danilo Mattana and Alessandro Tuvoni.
