Meeting in Samugheo between the Region and the mayors of Oristano and Nuoreseono to take stock of the "Sardinian Trasversale" project, the new road to connect Oristano and Tortolì

Three hypotheses emerged from the meeting for the route of the new artery, which will be approximately 160 kilometers long.

In reality, there are six design alternatives developed in the study illustrated by Works and Infrastructures of Sardinia, the Region's in-house company, and by the design group, but only three itineraries were passed to the in-depth phase and considered optimal also on the basis of impact on the territory.

«A meeting with the mayors - explains the regional councilor for Public Works, Pierluigi Saiu - strongly desired to share with the territory the choices for the construction of a strategic road project whose implementation will involve an important investment. No decision will be made from above. The definition of the project alternative on which we will move forward is therefore the result of this sharing".

«The Council - adds Saiu - has approved in the budget change, which will soon arrive in the council, an allocation of 8 million euros, resources that will allow us to move from project alternatives to technical and economic feasibility, which, by virtue of the new code of procurement, will also include the definitive design, and therefore the possibility of intercepting the resources necessary for the work whose cost is estimated at around 2 billion euros, in perspective the largest investment in a road work in Sardinia, but also of proceed with those obligations necessary to reduce the time required for the opening of the construction sites".
