The world of Sardinian boxing is mourning the passing of Gianfranco Pala , president of the Federboxe regional committee . Originally from Decimomannu, 65 years old, Pala passed away after a long battle with a serious illness .
A former athlete in the historic Sardinian Boxing Academy in via Barone Rossi, in Cagliari, over the years he has undertaken a brilliant career as a ministerial director , which led him to hold the role of director of the main island prisons (from Asinara to Uta, passing for Buoncammino).
Elected at the helm of Fpi Sardinia unanimously in 2014, succeeding former world champion Franco Udella, he was then reconfirmed in 2020 after a head-to-head with Antonfranco Temussi from Sassari. Messages of condolence arrived from all over the boxing world, in which Pala was appreciated for his competence, courtesy and availability.
