Red alert for Sardinia as it prepares to face next summer without fire-fighting helicopters . In fact , the tender for the rental of aircraft to be used in the campaign against the fires for the next three years was unsuccessful .
When the envelopes were opened on February 6th, no proposals were received from the companies that had won the tender and provided the service in previous years. «Another call for tenders will be made quickly», assured the commander of the Forestry Corps , Fabio Improveti , who explained: « Conditions have changed , the market in the helicopter sector has changed : three years ago it was different, today it is in another world . The companies decided not to participate."
However, the problem must be solved . « We are working to find a solution – continues Migliorati – and it is not a question of money or delays, everyone respected the deadlines and the money is there».
