Two amphorae of probable archaeological interest were found by chance on a beach in Sant'Antioco . They were noticed by a 60-year-old resident of Monza but who is currently on the island where he has a house. One of the objects is intact, the other only partially damaged.

The storm surges of the past few days have pushed the two amphorae to the shore which perhaps were located a short distance away, on the bottom of the sea.

The 60-year-old called 112 and the carabinieri from the local station arrived on the spot with colleagues from Tratalias . The military turned to the director of the "F. Barreca" archaeological museum for the subsequent technical investigations which will also be carried out by the Cultural Heritage Protection Unit of the Carabinieri of Cagliari and the local archaeological superintendence.

The archaeological heritage, recalls the TPC, belongs to the state heritage and in the event of a fortuitous discovery, article 90 of legislative decree 42 of 2004 applies, which provides that anyone who accidentally discovers immovable or movable things of probable archaeological interest must report it within 24 hours to the superintendent or the mayor or the public safety authority and provides for the temporary conservation of the property, leaving it in the conditions and place in which it was found.

The superintendent also informs the carabinieri responsible for the protection of cultural heritage of the discovery.
