He was selling non-fresh fish in Sant'Antioco and was fined 1,500 euros.

The trader, a 60-year-old from Sant'Antioco, ended up in trouble during the routine check of a patrol of the Forestry Corps of the Naval Base of Sant'Antioco, engaged in an extraordinary service aimed at the prevention and repression of crimes relating to trade and traceability of fish products.

The operators verified the origin of the fish he was selling on a van parked in a street in the town. Not only was the man without a regular license, but he did not even have the necessary documents to demonstrate the traceability of the product on sale.
The entire lot, consisting of approximately 30 kilos of various fish and shellfish, was then subjected to seizure and the trader was fined an administrative fine of 1,500 euros.
The product was the subject of an inspection by the Veterinary Service of ASL 7 of Carbonia which assessed the entire batch as unfit for consumption and will therefore be destined for destruction. The Forestry Corps "recommends citizens and consumers to always check the origin of the food they purchase and especially those sold outside of normal commercial channels".
