Seventy people were stopped and checked, reports were filed, and administrative fines were issued during inspections of public establishments. This is the result of a vast prevention operation organized by Captain Pasquale Striano within the San Vito Carabinieri Company.
Mobilized throughout the country, officers from the Mobile Radio Operations Unit and the stations in San Vito, Armungia, Villasimius, Castiadas, Villaputzu, and Muravera aimed at ensuring road safety, preventing property crimes, and combating drug use and trafficking. As mentioned, officers checked over 70 people and 30 vehicles, as well as inspecting six public establishments, issuing administrative fines totaling nearly €6,000 , revoking two driving licenses, and impounding one vehicle.
During the checks, the officers also focused on protecting victims of gender-based violence . In this context, a 42-year-old resident of San Vito, already known to the police, was reported at large for violating the precautionary measure prohibiting him from approaching places frequented by the victim. The man allegedly disregarded the stringent requirements imposed by the judicial authorities to protect his ex-partner.
On the road safety front, the checks resulted in four drivers being charged with grossly irresponsible driving . A 44-year-old resident of Muravera was reported for refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test. A 23-year-old, also from Muravera, refused specific medical tests for drug use and, following a search of his vehicle, was found in possession of 2.5 grams of hashish, thus being reported to the Cagliari Prefecture as a user. A 53-year-old from the capital was also charged with driving under the influence of drugs. Finally, a 44-year-old resident of Sinnai, already known to the police, was caught driving without having ever obtained a license and without the necessary insurance coverage. In addition to the serious traffic violations, he was also issued an administrative report for personal drug use, as he was found to be concealing just over two grams of hashish inside the vehicle.
The operation is part of the Carabinieri's broader and ongoing prevention and surveillance program. The goal remains to ensure a widespread presence to reassure citizens, combat all forms of illegality, maintain road safety, and intervene promptly to protect the most vulnerable members of the community.
