San Vero Milis, parking chaos in the seaside village of Mandriola

The scene is surreal: the paid parking lots are almost all empty, while the entrances to the homes are occupied by cars with trailers for transporting boats in tow. It happens in the seaside village of Mandriola, in the territory of San Vero Milis.
The boaters arrive early in the morning and, after putting the boat in the water, park the car with the trailer in the streets where there are houses. Ignoring all the prohibitions. All this to avoid paying for parking in the car park set up by the Municipality of San Vero Milis.
The residents of the area are angry, both for the failure to respect the prohibitions clearly displayed on the signs, and for the few controls present in the village of Mandriola. But also because they very often have difficulty entering or leaving their homes.
Franco Canu, owner of a house a few meters from the slide, knows something about it: «All this is absurd - he comments - it's pure rudeness, pure incivility. Yet it would take little to sanction all these people. Two days ago I also couldn't open the front door. It's clear that everyone comes here: you don't pay to use the slide, then everyone always parks wherever they want for free. Mandriola has become a no-man's land. We also need regulations for using the slide." Franco Canu, like other residents, has repeatedly reported the matter to the Municipality and to the police: «But nothing has ever been done to avoid all this disorder - explains Canu - They tell us that the police are few and that the problems there are many to deal with. But all this harms us citizens. A few days ago I had to call the Oristano police station. Not to mention the waste that is abandoned by boaters once they arrive on shore. We ask for more checks, especially on weekends."
