A life saved thanks to teamwork and a lot of professionalism. This is the story that emerges from the rescue provided yesterday morning to an 82-year-old bather on the beach of Lu Impostu.

The tourist, taken ill after entering the water, was promptly rescued by the lifeguard of the Monelli plant, Federico Meloni. Once on shore, the resuscitation maneuvers.

To rush: Salvatore Congiu, operator for access to the beach and qualified oss, together with the owner of the establishment Alessandro Andreosi and his colleague Cristian De Gaudenzi. Equipped with a defibrillator and operating in synergy, they led to a positive epilogue to the story.

"I was on the beach for what seemed like a normal working day - says Congiu -, when I saw the comings and goings of my colleagues, I immediately understood that something was happening".

He continues: «I wasted no time taking the defibrillator we are equipped with and performing the first maneuvers. I put into practice the teachings received during the years spent at 118 in Oliena, my town. The friends present did the same."

And in fact, after 15 minutes, the woman was finally able to breathe: «Ours is a delicate job – says Andreosi – with the arrival of the high season, the risk of certain events occurring is unfortunately just around the corner. This is why we invest in safety, with highly qualified personnel, such as our lifeguard Federico».

Another peculiarity of the beach: the presence of a single rescue network. Thanks to a vhf radio link, the managers of the establishments communicate with each other in every situation.

«A choice that started from the desire to coordinate together – concludes Andreosi – we are happy that the lady is better and is in the hands of the sanitary ware. The hours of training and the equipment present allowed us to write a positive page».

After the 118 intervention, the woman was admitted to the John Paul II hospital in Olbia for the treatment of the case.
