He died yesterday morning, at 9, crushed by a machine he had been using for some time to produce concrete beams. Roberto Usai would have turned 22 in December.

It will be the investigation entrusted to the deputy prosecutor Emanuele Secci to clarify the causes of yet another accident at work that took place this autumn in Sardinia. Usai, from Villanova Tulo, worked in "Demuro srl", a company that produces prefabricated concrete and has its headquarters in the industrial area of Perd'e Cuaddu in the countryside of Isili. For reasons yet to be ascertained, he was crushed by a machine that hit him between the head, chest and arms.

A human error or a technical failure, the experts will clarify the dynamics after the legal remarks and after listening to the testimonies of colleagues in shock yesterday morning. It was precisely the young worker's colleagues who alerted 118 after the accident. Unfortunately, the rescue could not do anything, when they arrived Roberto Usai was already lifeless.

On the spot also the carabinieri of the Isili Company led by Captain Elias Ruiu. The boy's body remained inside the shed until the arrival of the magistrate and the technicians of the Spresal, the prevention and safety at work service, before being moved to the Monserrato University Hospital for the autopsy.

TRADE UNIONS: “MASSACRE TO STOP” - The debate on safety in the workplace is rekindled. The regional secretary of the CGIL, Samuele Piddiu, immediately points the finger at the particular moment the country has gone through: “What emerges is a relaxation of controls and less attention on the procedures to be followed for the protection of workers. It is as if companies, in order to recover the losses accused during the pandemic, wanted to restart quickly, putting the objective of safety at work in the background. The statistics of the last period confirm this by identifying young people, without experience and training, and over 60, physically less performing, the most at risk. We are therefore convinced that workers are victims of a production system that in this moment of recovery is putting competitiveness before employee health ”.
