While there's still no official confirmation, a breakthrough is reportedly imminent in the prosecutor's investigation into the military wreckage recovered on the Capoterra coast at the beginning of the year . The Carabinieri's RIS ( Inspection and Investigation Unit) has reportedly confirmed that the wreckage is not that of the "Volpe 132" Finance Police helicopter, which disappeared off the coast of Muravera on March 2, 1994, but rather that of a military fighter : an F-104, which crashed many years ago.

If the rumor is confirmed, the new case opened by Cagliari prosecutor Andrea Chelo will soon be closed, without being reassigned to deputy prosecutor Guido Pani, who has since taken over the investigation into the Guardia di Finanza helicopter that mysteriously sank 32 years ago.

After weeks of technical analysis conducted at the San Bartolomeo barracks, the Carabinieri's Scientific Investigations Unit, which also received support from experts from the Leonardo company (formerly Finmeccanica), has reportedly reached its first conclusion, still informal but destined to change the course of the investigation: the approximately forty metal components recovered from La Maddalena Spiaggia after the violent storm at the end of January do not belong to the Agusta A109 helicopter that disappeared in 1994 along with Brigadier Fabrizio Sedda and Marshal Gianfranco Deriu .
