Prevention and contrast of vandalism and violence (defined as "antisocial behavior") but also the search for a balance between the rights of the residents of the historic center and those of the owners of bars, restaurants and clubs in the area.

These are the objectives of the "Monitoring Group on the negative aspects of the so-called nightlife": an interinstitutional table set up with a decree from the Prefect of Cagliari Giuseppe De Matteis.

In addition to the Prefecture, the Municipality, the police force, Confesercenti, Fipe Confcommercio, the Vicarìa Cattedrale Centro Storico of Cagliari, the “Stampace” committee, the “Vivere a Villanova” association, the “Casteddu de Susu", the association "Let's open the windows to the Marina", the "Noise no thanks" Committee, the "Marina Natural Shopping Center", the "Corso Vittorio Emanuele II Natural Shopping Center" and a spontaneous committee of residents in some streets of the historic centre.

The "Group" will meet every 15 days, on Tuesdays. And all the reports will be included in the agenda of the meeting of the provincial committee for public order and security to be held the following Friday.

Not only that: the new subject, reads a note from Piazza Palazzo, "has the task of promoting every useful action through the involvement of the various subjects in some way interested in the phenomenon, each for their own sphere of competence, putting in place practices agreements to contrast and contain behavior prejudicial to public peace and urban decorum, to improve the livability conditions of the neighborhoods affected by the phenomenon, as well as the civil and social cohesion of the city, also promoting initiatives aimed at bringing young people closer to suggesting correct lifestyles and a conscious and healthy entertainment, in the interest of both their health and the community in which they live”.

An open work programme, that of the Monitoring Group. That on a "periodic basis it will verify the state of implementation of the commitments undertaken and the relative application, also taking into account the analyses, evaluations and suggestions that may be provided by other institutional subjects and representatives of bodies or associations", which could also be called to attend meetings.
