There was a face-to-face meeting between trade union representatives and the Olbia Local Health Authority on the reorganization plan for the Giovanni Paolo II hospital.

In the afternoon RSU, territorial secretariats of the confederal acronyms, NurSind and Fials communicated to the director of the ASL, Marcello Acciaro, that the operation worries doctors, nurses and healthcare workers at the Olbia hospital.

The "rationalization" of the facility began with the merger of the Surgery and Orthopedics departments on the third floor. Acciaro ruled out that this is the first act of the reorganization (which involves the birth of multidisciplinary platforms), but the unions are ready for sensational forms of protest. The representatives of the healthcare staff believe that with this new structure the patient load per nurse increases, the quality of the service decreases and the risks for the medical staff increase, who will also have to work in areas other than their qualifications.

Acciaro explained that emphasis will be placed on staff training. The territorial secretary of the CGIL Public Function, Jessica Cardia, spoke of an operation that essentially aims to make maximum use of the staff, already reduced to the bone and exhausted. Acciaro announced that the platform will have beds for Ophthalmology and Urology. Also present were Vittorio Masu (CISL Fp), Vito Langiu (Uil Fpl), Achille Caddeo (NurSind) and Carmen Fraietta (Fials). The unions were informed that the problem that blocked the payment of almost half a million euros due to the thousand employees of the Olbia Local Health Authority (recognition of qualifications and productivity) is being resolved .
