Two medical teams of different specialties can follow the conditions of a single patient and decide on the best therapies for children suffering from heart disease.
This is made possible by the new direct digital connection which, at the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari, allows Paediatrics to communicate in real time with the Cardiology Utic (Cardiological Intensive Care Unit).
Children who have cardiovascular pathologies in the acute phase, hospitalized in the Pediatrics Structure directed by Maurizio Zanda, are now monitored 24 hours a day in the Cardiology directed by Marco Corda and with the supervision of Roberto Tumbarello, director of Pediatric Cardiology.
Cardiac pathology in pediatric age is a highly complex and specialized area and is extremely peculiar compared to that which manifests itself in adulthood. The main causes are represented by congenital heart diseases and cardiomyopathies. From a medical point of view, children are not small adults, but rather a particularly fragile population due to clinical manifestations, etiologies and care complexities.
