"Volunteers needed for layoffs, otherwise the company will unilaterally nominate two people by October 16th and then evaluate further layoffs at the end of November." This is the "unacceptable" proposal proposed by Semplice Digitale, a company belonging to the Innova Semplice network, which employs over a thousand people throughout Italy and has taken over the call center operations for the Meglio Questo group in Cagliari.

The complaint comes from the regional secretaries of Slc Cgil and Uilcom Uil, Alessandro Randaccio and Marianna Stara, who consider the attitude of company management to be "extremely serious" and will take all necessary measures to defend jobs, from mobilization to institutional involvement.

"Just one year after the acquisition, the new network intends to lay off workers who have been providing customer service for Energit, Asdasd (Pop Wifi and Fibersurf), Kfi (Lamborghini), Microport, and Stroili Oro for years, and who continued to work responsibly even after the previous company stopped guaranteeing salaries," the unions note.

At the first hurdle, "following the loss of the Stroili Oro contract, Semplice Digitale announced a structural redundancy, currently involving four workers, refusing to accept union proposals to establish a shared path to managing the crisis, including through the use of social safety nets."

"It's a logic we cannot accept," Randaccio and Stara say, "that of treating workers as useful commodities as long as they're needed, only to then dump them as soon as the situation changes. We demand that the Innova Semplice group assume its industrial responsibilities and immediately open a discussion table to guarantee the future and dignity of the Sardinia site."
