In the end, not even the parish priest, Father Stefano Cogoni, can move on. He is overcome by emotion several times when he remembers Asia, "a cheerful and nice girl" and when he thanks her for donating her organs, "which will save the lives of other people". Many people flocked this afternoon to the church of Sant'Antonio in Quartu to pay their last respects to Asia Loddo, the sixteen-year-old who passed away after four days in a coma following an accident in Is Pontis Paris.
Escorting the white coffin, covered in roses, a crowd of friends all wearing a T-shirt with a photo of Asia smiling happily while holding a bouquet of flowers and above it the words "No one dies in the heart of those who live. Goodbye Asietta". The same ones worn by the girl's parents, mother Tamara and father Agostino who sit in the front rows, knocked out by grief. They shake hands, receive tear-soaked kisses, look around disoriented.
Before saying goodbye, a friend of Asia read a little thought: "Ciao our love, we never imagined we would get to a day like this. You were sunny, always smiling. It hurts to know that you are no longer here. You were always ready to help everyone, you had so many passions. You were our cook. Ciao Asietta, you will always be our little girl."
Then, with difficulty, the coffin leaves the church among a forest of umbrellas and colored balloons, for the final journey to the cemetery.
