May Maddalena Carta's death be a warning to everyone. We must improve healthcare governance .

Speaking is Giuseppe Frau, vice president of the regional council elected with the Uniti per Todde group .

«A day of mourning for all of us», underlines Frau, remembering his colleague (he is also a doctor) «known and esteemed by all for her passion, self-denial, professionalism, spirit of service and love for her patients» .

Maddalena Carta, a 38-year-old family doctor, was a point of reference for thousands of patients in Dorgali. According to colleagues and union representatives, she neglected an illness so as not to leave her patients alone , given the sick leave of two other GPs in the area. Then she suffered a stroke that unfortunately proved fatal .

"This woman," Frau emphasizes, " went so far as to neglect her own health in order to serve the public health system. Her death must therefore be a strong warning that cannot leave us indifferent. We must all, each in our own share of responsibility, do more and better to improve healthcare governance, provide assistance to citizens, and support healthcare workers , who in turn care for patients."
