Twenty-four years and two months' imprisonment.

It is the penalty requested by the prosecutor Giovanna Morra at the end of the indictment before the Court of Assizes of Cagliari - presided over by Tiziana Marogna - against Alba Veronica Puddu , the 52-year-old doctor from Tertenia accused of aggravated voluntary homicide, circumvention of the incompetent and fraud.

According to the indictment, the professional treated cancer patients with alternative methods - such as ultrasound or radio frequencies - which would have reduced the life expectancy of the sick and accelerated death.

The charge of voluntary homicide remained standing only for the death of Fiorenzo Fiorini , one of the three victims treated under the care of Dr. Puddu.

The other charges, however, apply to all three deceased patients: in addition to Fiorini, Davide Spanu and Franco Garau.

For her part, during the last hearing, the defendant had made spontaneous statements , explaining: «I have never forbidden or discouraged my patients from following traditional therapies such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Everything they did was everyone's free choice ."

The investigation started after an investigation by "Le Iene" broadcast on 19 November 2017 on Italia 1, in which cases of cancer patients were reported who had abandoned traditional therapies for those proposed by Alba Veronica Puddu, such as ultrasounds, radiofrequencies and blood revitalization, types of treatments whose typical field of application would be that of diagnostic or aesthetic medicine.

In 2018 the Lanusei prosecutor's office had seized part of her medical equipment in the professional's office in Tertenia.

In May 2018, the Gip Francesco Alterio had instead banned the woman from exercising the medical profession.
