"With the regional law n. 7 of January 15, 1991, the Sardinia Region has foreseen a series of interventions aimed at strengthening ties with the Sardinian communities located outside the island. In particular, this law is aimed at promoting initiatives aimed at guaranteeing equal treatment between resident and non-resident Sardinians. On the contrary, the recent events related to the new ban on air territorial continuity have revealed evident discrimination between residents in Sardinia and emigrants , forced the latter to give up the usual trip to the island to reunite with relatives due to the exorbitant prices of airline tickets. that have touched the threshold of 700 euros ".

Thus the head of the M5s group , Roberto Li Gioi , who presented a motion addressed to the Sardinia Region to "adopt any useful initiative to ensure Sardinians with permanent residence outside the regional territory access to air continuity tickets to and from Sardinia" .

"The new air territorial continuity, shared between Volotea and Ita Airways, which started last May 15 and without public incentives, in fact provides special fares only for residents of the island and for those belonging to equivalent categories (disabled, elderly and university students) , while all other passengers have to pay for tickets at market prices ”, explains Li Gioi.

“The fact that the airlines have agreed to fly without financial compensation has resulted in considerable savings for the regional coffers: over 42 million euros per year. An important figure that could , in part, be used to guarantee tariff concessions in favor of Sardinian emigrants , both resident in the national territory and abroad, as long as they have retained their Italian nationality ". According to Li Gioi, "the concessions must also be extended to their spouses and children, even if they were not born in Sardinia ".

The motion therefore commits President Solinas and the Regional Council to adopt any useful initiative to ensure that Sardinians with a permanent residence outside the regional territory have access to airline tickets to and from Sardinia.

“The regional government has not in fact provided for a maximum price ceiling to be applied for airline tickets, a fact that is causing an unjustified increase in the price of tickets for non-residents and all those who do not fall into the subsidized categories. A difference in treatment that goes against the regional law n. 7 of January 15, 1991 and which must be eliminated ".
