Head of Cardiac Surgery: "No blood, look for donors"

The blood emergency in Sardinia is taking on dramatic aspects.
In a letter signed by the director of the Cardiac Surgery Complex of the Brotzu Company in Cagliari, patients awaiting surgery are invited to come with at least five donors.
"The blood - reads the letter from Emiliano Maria Cirio - can be donated to any Avis center in Sardinia, of any blood type, having the foresight to specify the name and surname of the referring patient who must be operated on at the Cardiac Surgery of the Brotzu of Cagliari ".
The director's initiative is a confirmation of the dramatic lack of blood on the island.
The Brotzu hospital has clarified that unfortunately this is a fairly frequent practice and that in any case the patients will be operated on even if they will not be able to find the five donors .
