"If wars can be started by lies, they can be stopped by the truth." is the sentence accompanied by the photo of Julian Assange hanging on the trunk of a tree in front of the government's representative office in Piazza del Carmine in Cagliari .

It is one of the forms of protest chosen by "Sardegna clean" and "SardegnaDonneAmbiente" to ask for the extradition to the US of the journalist now in the United Kingdom to be blocked.

The event was held in conjunction with an international pro Assange presidium in London.

In Sardinia, a delegation delivered a document addressed to Prime Minister Mario Draghi . "We ask you - this is one of the fundamental steps of the requests - that the Italian government does not remain indifferent to the persecution of the journalist Julian Assange , deprived of his freedom for having made known to the whole world the war crimes committed by the US during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We turn to you as head of government, so that you can intervene to protect Assange by avoiding his extradition (which would expose him to the risk of inhuman and degrading treatment) and his sentence, which can include up to 175 years in prison. The Italian State, which places article 21 in its Constitution (on Freedom of the Press and Opinion) as the foundation of Democracy and political action, cannot exempt itself from acting internationally in this case. . We ask that action be taken with the UK government, a country where Assange has been in arbitrary detention since 2012 ".
