Everything is ready in Quartu for the rebirth of the Velodrome , the sports facility in via San Francesco which has been closed for years.

After the Government's approval for the definitive project, and the awarding of the contract a few months ago, the restyling is now officially underway . The mayor Graziano Milia himself announced it on his Facebook page: “With the delivery of the keys to the construction site to the company in charge, the works for the renovation of the Quartu Velodrome begin. An important structure, the only one of its kind in the whole vast metropolitan area and which plans to return to its full functionality by next autumn”.

The estimated times for the execution of the works are 30 weeks, just under 8 months .

"The work had been financed at the time with the funds of the Pact for the development of the metropolitan city : 950 thousand euros, to which this administration added another 105 thousand euros of incremental funds due to the increase in the regional price list", he recalls Milia. « The tracks and grandstands will be recovered , with the creation of stations dedicated to disabled spectators. The recovery of the changing rooms and the infirmary is also envisaged, also in this case with the creation of services dedicated to disabled users. Also included in the works is the renovation of the bathrooms and the press box , as well as the upgrading of the electrical systems », explains the mayor. Who adds: «With the construction site of the Velodrome, all the works financed at the time by the Pact signed with the Metropolitan City have now officially begun, a source of great satisfaction for us».
