A fire devastated Rcm Records during the night, the rehearsal room of the historic record company founded by Maurizio Casu, one of the main music producers in Sardinia. The fire, caused by a short circuit, broke out in the premises of via della Menta Fiorita in Flumini, wiping out years of work, sacrifices and dreams in a few hours.
Casu himself announced the news in a video on social media: "There's nothing more we can do, everything has been destroyed," he said with a voice broken by emotion, as he watched the flames devour his creation, a point of reference for many artists and music lovers.
The alarm was raised during the night, when the fire began to spread rapidly inside the studio . According to initial reports, the blaze was triggered by a short circuit in a spotlight. The producer's son and some musician friends were inside the building, busy with a rehearsal session. Fortunately, everyone managed to escape before the flames engulfed the instruments, the recording room and all the equipment . The Fire Department and 118 intervened on site. The extinguishing operations lasted over two hours and only after intense work did the firefighters manage to secure the building.
"Nothing of the studio exists anymore, but we are alive, and that's what matters," commented Casu, tired but grateful for the affection received. "Thanks to God and everyone for their closeness. I will answer the messages as soon as I have metabolized what happened."
There are already hundreds of messages of solidarity on social media. Many friends and colleagues have expressed their desire to start a fundraiser to help him rebuild what for many was a true “temple of music” . “Nothing will be recovered. The studio was not insured,” added Casu. “But the important thing is that no one got hurt. Equipment can be bought again, but life cannot.”
And while the ashes of Rcm Records cool, a community is gathering around Maurizio Casu, ready to support him, and so that corner of music, once again, could find a way to be reborn.
