At the beginning there were few, then they became more than 100. Many, too many to be closed in a house that is not a kennel, albeit in the countryside. So now a fifty-two year old from Quarto will no longer be able to keep them.

Complying with a judge's order, following an executive eviction order for the woman who lives with her mother, the Municipality published an expression of interest addressed to regional and national associations «for the management of the animals kept in the Santu Lianu house ». An attempt is thus made to identify who is willing to manage, free of charge, "the dogs present in the building subject to executive eviction".

Anyone interested will be able to submit applications within 15 days. "We intervened promptly to remedy a situation of illegitimacy and risk that had persisted for over 10 years," said deputy mayor Tore Sanna. «Unfortunately over time the number of animals has grown uncontrollably, which is why among the first actions implemented by the Administration there is a sterilization and microchipping plan which will be implemented by the veterinary service of the Cagliari Local Health Authority in collaboration with the Shardana affiliated kennel. The animals will be collected in groups of five at a time, held in the kennel for the necessary health operations and kept here temporarily until taken over again. What we hope is that a chain of solidarity will be created at a local level but also beyond the regional territory to be able to guarantee over 100 heartfelt adoptions for these unfortunate creatures, who until now have lived in conditions of absolute precariousness."

Furthermore, following the eviction "the administration will be forced to intervene to dispose of mountains of unsorted waste abandoned in the area, with an expense which unfortunately will weigh on the shoulders of the entire city community".
