A farmer from a Barbagia center was denounced on the loose by the carabinieri of Nuoro for mistreatment of animals.

In April, the military received a report from a citizen who had read on an ad website about the sale of puppies of the “Dogo sardo” breed. The little dogs had their ears and tails cut off to give them the typical aesthetic appearance of this breed.

Investigations have therefore begun as the practice, which remains very widespread, of amputating parts of the body is prohibited by law, unless it involves operations of a therapeutic nature for the care of the animal. This was not the case.

The selling price was 300 euros. The carabinieri searched the kennel and seized the puppies.
