Alive thanks to the precious work of two young people, the loggerhead turtle that was found in recent days on the Punta Salina cliff on the Calasetta coast by Alessio Calaresu and Alice Casula.
"It was 5:20 p.m. - says Alessio Calaresu - while we were walking along the cliff, Alice and I came across this beautiful turtle, wrapped and completely entangled in a fishing net. We immediately alerted 112 and they put us through to the operations center of the forestry corps for environmental surveillance. In the meantime , we cut and very carefully removed the net that was wrapped around the turtle and then put it in a puddle ."
Subsequently , the patrol from the Sant'Antioco Forestry Corps station arrived on site and took care of transporting the turtle to the cetacean recovery centre in Nora.
The specimen, about 10 years old and about fifty centimeters long, is at the Nora center, where all the necessary checks are underway to evaluate its health conditions, which appear to be good, perhaps also thanks to the timely intervention of the boys who saved it.
