After the moments of tension experienced yesterday evening at the Oristano port of Santa Giusta, where a load of dismantled wind turbines arrived a few weeks ago which will have to replace an obsolete plant in central Sardinia, a new garrison has been announced for this evening.
Around 11pm around fifty people blocked the convoy's exit from the port , asking for a stop to "the assault of renewables on the island's territory". The police intervened and escorted the trucks out of the gates ( HERE IS THE VIDEO OF THE BLOCK ).
The demonstrators, including a group of independence activists, and the police in riot gear, coordinated by the Police Headquarters, faced each other for some time and one of the demonstrators was blocked on the spot and then released: it still remains to be assessed whether in his comparisons may trigger a complaint.
Finally, the situation was resolved by the police commissioner of Oristano Giuseppe Giardina and the head of the mobile Samuele Cabizzosu.
And while a further protest was planned for this evening, the Prefecture took stock of the situation in a committee for public order and safety. «The situation - explained the prefect Salvatore Angieri on the sidelines of the meeting - is under control and carefully monitored. These are artefacts intended for the extraordinary maintenance of installations authorized for some time and which have successfully passed every administrative procedure, including the Region's Environmental Impact Assessment. I therefore invite all parties involved to maintain the tone of a civil protest, in full respect of both the right to freedom of expression and the rights of others, including freedom of economic initiative."
