About a thousand workers in the construction sector gathered this morning in Molentargius-Saline Park, in Cagliari , for the "Do the good thing" day proclaimed by Fillea Cgil and Feneal Uil to protest against the Procurement Code.

A long procession - including representatives of the centre-left - then reached the nearby Selected Sali Building where the debate took place with the requests to amend the decree approved by the Council of Ministers on 16 February at the centre, which - the unions accuse - excludes the possibility , for low incomes and the incompetent, to access the incentives provided for the safety of buildings, energy efficiency, the removal of architectural barriers.

"With that decree - the regional secretaries Fillea and Feneal, Erika Collu and Gianni Olla reiterated this morning - the government undermines the indispensable path towards the regeneration and environmental sustainability of our cities, especially in the suburbs and internal areas, and puts at risk over 100,000 jobs in the sector with devastating effects on the Sardinian economic system».

In 2022 - according to the two unions - the Superbonus produced 10,000 more employees on the island, 2.2% of total regional employment (577,000), with a percentage higher than the national average (1.8%). The figure refers to 5,000 direct jobs in construction, 3,000 in related industries, a further 2,800 linked to the increase in demand for consumption and services generated by income from work. Furthermore, Fillea Cgil and Feneal Uil said they were against the rule proposed in the implementing decree of the new Procurement Code , on the liberalization of subcontracting levels in public tenders: it is the so-called "cascade subcontracting".

"We are facing a distortion of rules and regulations that this government wants to carry on to the detriment of the community and of a strategic sector for the economy of Sardinia and for the country - explained Collu and Olla -. There is a risk of causing a sudden stop and a dangerous collapse of confidence: a real time bomb that will unload on the shoulders of workers, families and businesses".
