Dozens of university students marched this afternoon in Cagliari, to protest the situation of canteens and student housing in the capital. The demonstration started from Piazza del Carmine, also with a coffin to symbolize the death of the right to study. "We are hungry for rights, Ersu, boga cosa de pappai", one of the banners to protest the canteens closed for work .

" It's a student funeral procession ," said Bianca Pili, one of the representatives of the Student Housing Committee, "because the problems with the accommodations are known to everyone and now there is also the problem of the canteen: so far we have only received promises."

The numbers. " We went from 799 accommodation places in 2016-2017 to 238 made available by Ersu for this academic year ," the protesters explain in a document. " Of three canteens, only one is open . The applications received by Ersu in Cagliari are more than a thousand. The eligibility criteria also exceed a thousand. Despite this, the announcement for the academic year 2024-2025 only includes accommodation places in a student house, relating to the first lot of the campus on Viale la Plaia. These are only 238 places, from which 20 must be deducted, which will be occupied exclusively by people with certified disabilities."

Students complain about the lack of alternatives, because in their opinion private rents are increasingly expensive. The Ersu and the Region are the stages of the procession . "Brain drain and desolate roads, this is the future you deserve" and "He doesn't answer you and ignores you, it's not a disease, it's the Sardinia Region" are two other banners that appeared.
