Waste with asbestos products, plastic, parts of furniture and waste of building materials and various types, an underground landfill in the "La Marinella" area, on the coast and near the industrial area of Porto Torres.

The Turritana port authority has filed a report with the Public Prosecutor's Office of Sassari , which has started investigations to ascertain whether there has been improper disposal in the state-owned area, where a construction site has been set up.

The pile of waste, the result of the incivility of those who over the years have illegally dumped rubbish in the area east of La Marinella beach, including fragments of material, most likely asbestos, would have been scattered across the entire area of approximately two hectares, without preliminarily carrying out reclamation, as required by the laws in force.

It will be the task of the judicial authority to verify any environmental damage and whether there is any liability in this regard. The environmental risk was also reported by the voluntary citizen committee "Let's protect the Gulf of Asinara", chaired by Giuseppe Alesso, an association formed on 8 February 2011 following the accident which occurred on 11 January 2011 from the E power plant terminal -On of Fiumesanto in Porto Torres which resulted in the spillage of approximately 50 cubic meters of fuel oil into the sea.
