Porto Torres, the Turritani Martyrs return to the basilica: "An example of love and heroic virtues"

"Even today we hope that the miracle of Pentecost will be renewed for each of us, with the Holy Spirit who opens the doors of our hearts and lives. The first door is that of God who allowed himself to be wounded, who gave his life and opened the door of the heart to each of us, as the Holy Martyrs Turritani, Gavino, Proto and Gianuario did". A moment of reflection before the impressive procession that accompanies the wooden simulacra of the three saints to the Basilica of San Gavino, where their tombs rest. Since May 3, they have stopped in the small church of Balai Vicino, the original place of their burial, then a destination for pilgrimages for about a month and, on the day of Pentecost, the scene of the historical re-enactment of the Dream of Comita by the Giudicato di Torres association. A crowd of faithful accompanied the long procession, with the holy bodies carried on their shoulders, followed by the flag committees, the Etnos and Intragnas groups, the musical band, the priests and the mayor Massimo Mulas, as well as the authorities. They crossed the seafront, reached the city center before arriving at the Romanesque basilica.

Tomorrow, Pentecost Monday, is the Festha Manna, the popular festival in honor of the patron saints of the city, the province, and the archdiocese. Around the Turritan chapter and the priests, in the Basilica of San Gavino, the authorities of the city, the province, and the territory join together with numerous faithful of the diocese to attend the Pontifical, with the mass presided over by Cardinal Arrigo Miglio. The traditional exchange of keys between the municipalities of Sassari and Porto Torres follows. Immediately after, by ancient tradition, all the faithful gather in procession to reach the port and receive the Eucharistic blessing imparted by the cardinal who concludes the religious celebrations.
