Following the success of Voci d'Europa, in Porto Torres, Sardinia and Germany are once again united by the spirit of polyphonic music: on Thursday, October 16, at 8:30 pm, in the Basilica of San Gavino, the special guest will be the German choir “Carmina mundi,” directed by maestro Harald Nickoll.

The Kammerchor (chamber choir) comes from Aachen and is one of the most appreciated German groups on the international choral music scene.

Alternating with the Turritano Polyphonic Choir, directed by Laura Lambroni, the "Carmina Mundi" will perform in the final concert of the international series "Voices in Dialogue," a three-part musical event with a European scope that celebrates friendship and sharing through the universal language of choral singing. Admission is free.

Carmina Mundi was founded in 1983 and currently consists of forty members who perform sacred and secular music a cappella, experimenting with a rich repertoire of pieces from different places and eras.

The festival was born from the collaboration between the Bernardo De Muro Ets Foundation and the “Lorenzo Perosi” Choir of Olbia, the Turritano Polyphonic Choir of Porto Torres, the Schola Cantorum “Civitas Templi” of Tempio Pausania and the Schola Cantorum of Olbia.

"The goal," say the organizers, "is to promote cultural and artistic interaction among European choral groups, highlighting both the island's remarkable musical heritage and the long-standing tradition of multi-voiced singing that unites the people of the Mediterranean and Northern Europe."

Ensemble singing thus becomes a vehicle for communication that breaks down linguistic and cultural barriers, offering a significant opportunity to share diverse experiences through music.
